Lyla bug is three years old today! I feel like she went from this....

to this....
to this in the blink of an eye!
And now a few things about our little lady..

She is super sassy, but also has a sweet side. She is independent. I still refer to her as my baby even though she is now potty trained, sleeps in a real bed, and is going to preschool in a few months. She loves dogs (her favorite place to go to is Petco to see all the dogs), candy, Dora, Peter Rabbit (the show), otter pops, and swimming outside. She likes going to nursery. When she gets really mad at me she calls me weird, which makes me laugh. She loves playing with Adalynn. She has started playing with barbies and playing dress up. She loves putting on my red lipstick and nail polish (all by herself, I might add).

We all think she is the cutest thing ever and she has made our home a better place by being a part of it.

Doughnuts for Breakfast

When I asked the kids what they wanted to put on our bucket list for the summer one of the first things they told me was they wanted to get doughnuts for breakfast. Saturday Jared's flight to Boston was delayed a few hours so we went before he left. It was the day before Fathers Day and apparently if you brought in an ugly tie you got a free dozen. We didn't know that (darn) but it was kinda fun seeing all the ties hanging from the ceiling.

Lyla only eats the chocolate. She has never eaten the actual doughnut.
I don't know what is going on with all the white splotches on Devin's face. It also happened last summer. His doctor said it was eczema. My dad said it was a fungus and to wash his face with Selson Blue. One person told me it happens when you get really tan in a short period of time. Nothing has seemed to work. Has this happened to anyone else?

Shrinky Dinks

I remember doing these at some point when I was a kid. Really fun to watch them curl up and shrink in the oven.
I made the kids do a rough draft first. You can see how much it shrunk. Courtney did the fish and Adalynn did the rainbow.

Since the superbowl my kids have become quite the Seahawks fans. They both really want a Russell Wilson shirt/jersey. Jared loves it!
Adalynn and Courtney's second one.

Milk Science

Another cool, easy experiment. Just put milk (they say it has to be at least 2% or higher) in a bowl or plate, add food coloring and then a few drops of dish soap. It creates some pretty cool designs.

Before the dish Soap

The girls did this over and over and over and over. I finally made them stop because I was running out of milk.

So, if you dip a q-tip in the soap first, it is also pretty cool! We were just squeezing the soap from the bottle into the milk before. Here is a video of the other way.

Soak an egg in vinegar and the shell dissolves.

Exploding Chain Reaction

This was another activity on our Summer Bucket List. It was something I had to build myself (a little too complicated for the kids) and the kids just got to enjoy it explode. It was pretty cool!
Here are pictures. I recorded it, but my video won't load.

 One more time

And if you want to see something really cool!

We've been swimming almost every day. Thank heavens for friends that like to share their pools.

Oh!! And can I get a woot! woot! Lyla is potty trained! No more diapers for us! She is a champ and did it in three days--only three accidents total! She did great at church and we've been out on many errands and shopping trips this week and so far, so good. Not potty trained at night yet--but that will come soon.
