One week

In one week Devin will be baptized! I wanted to post his announcement, but maybe I shouldn't in case there are any nut jobs reading my blog. If you want one, or want information to attend, send me a message.

We went to the temple a few weeks ago to get some pictures. Can't believe my baby is almost 8! He looks so grown up in his suit!

The Girls

I bought two new backdrops last week and wanted to try them out. I am still getting used to this new camera.

Last Week

Adalynn and I decorated for Thanksgiving. I'm obviously obsessed with banners.
We used some of the crafts the girls made last year.
We also made edible acorns. Addie is such a good helper.
Saturday we went to Gilcrease Orchard. I have a friend that wants family pictures there, so I went to scope it out. They have these apple cider doughnuts (with cinnamon cream cheese frosting) that were so good!
Monday was Veteran's Day. We went to this cute shopping center so I could take pictures of Amy's kids. We found this fun bush--not sure what they are, but the kids picked a bunch and threw them at each other.
After photos, Adalynn had dance. Today was 101 Dalmatians.
That night we had FHE. We talked a bit about baptism---I pulled out my old baptism book and showed them pictures of me on my baptism day. Then we switched gears to talk about Thanksgiving. I've done a thankful tree the past two years, so the kids knew what to do. I didn't make nearly enough leaves.
Tuesday I took Lyla to the Giggle Box, an indoor play area. She loved it! Sadly, Lyla and I don't get much fun time together. It seems like when the other two are at school, I am running errands or cleaning the house. It felt good doing something special with just her.
This tree in my backyard is my favorite.

Thankful Day 8

Today I am thankful for our great country. I am thankful for those who have fought and sacrificed to protect it, past and present.

Family and applesauce

My family came for a visit last weekend (my mom, dad, James and Karrah). They were only here two days--not nearly enough time!
A few months ago I told my dad I wanted to come home in the fall when the apples were ready. Well, there wasn't a weekend that was going to work for us, so my sweet dad suggested he come wand bring the apples with him.
They got here late Thursday night. Friday we made applesauce and apple butter. My house smelled amazing. The applesauce my dad makes is so good--the kids gobble it up. We made strawberry, cherry, and cinnamon flavored. And we also made apple pie filling.
Saturday was more apple making and eating and everyone went to Devin's baseball game. It was also Karrah's birthday so we went out to dinner and later celebrated with a DQ cake.
Everyone left Sunday. Sad to see them go, but they will be back in a few weeks for Devin's baptism, so I'm excited.
Happy Birthday Karrah!
Our hard work...this was about half of it.

Thankful Day 7

I'm thankful for my camera. I had my first camera when I was probably 11 or 12. I got my first film SLR before I was married and my first digital camera right before I had Devin. Being able to capture moments, especially with young children, who change so fast, is a wonderful thing.

And speaking of cameras, I would love to get this as a print for my house.

Thankful Day 6

I am thankful for our friends. I've said it so many times on my blog, but I don't know what I would do without them. It seems like at least once a week I have someone stepping in to help me. There will be days where I think "there is no possible way I can do it all today"...and then, unexpectedly, a friend will stop by and take the kids to their house for a few hours, or bring me dinner, or any number of things. They step in at a moments notice even though their lives are just as busy as mine. I am so grateful for them.

And you would think with all the times we hang out I would have a picture, but I don't! Tons of pictures of the kids...none of the adults!

Diary of a Wimpky Kid

Our friend Brian invited us to an event he was in charge of. Author Jeff Kinney would be releasing his new book, Hard Luck, here in Vegas. Devin loves his books. He ended up buying quite a few of them with his own money last year. Devin struggles in reading and does not enjoy it, but will sit and read them for hours (with my help of course). So, I too love Jeff Kinney. Anyone that can get Devin to read is my hero. It was exciting being able to meet him in person.
Brian gave us the VIP treatment. He reserved us seats in the front row. And after we got to take pictures of him by his bus. He was so nice. He took a little time with each kid, asking them questions and signing their posters. I wish I had brought Devin's books but our e-mail said he would not be signing. I guess last minute he decided to, which was nice of him. He answered questions and talked a bit about writing the book. It was all very interesting.

Thankful Day 5

I am thankful for Diet Coke! I know it is bad for me and I need to quit, but some days it is just what I need to get through the day! Today is probably going to be one of those days!

Thankful Day 4

I'm thankful for my mom and dad! They were here this past weekend and I was very sad to see them go! Now that I am grown up with my own kids, I appreciate my parents so much more. I had a great childhood. My parents worked very hard to give us the life we had. They both joined the church (my dad first and then my mom) and raised me in the gospel and for that I will be grateful to them forever. They are amazing grandparents.

Thankful Day 3

I'm thankful for my faith. Being a member of my church has taught me that I am a daughter of God and he loves me. He loves me and knows me personally and wants to the best for me. The gospel  has taught me about Jesus Christ and his atonement. It helps me become a better mother, a better wife, a better person. I am so grateful my children have the gospel of Jesus Christ, which will teach them how much God loves them and also teach them good values. The gospel of Jesus Christ means everything to me and brings me true peace and joy.
