Pumpkin Carving

We cared pumpkins for FHE this week.

You guys! This was the first year Devin was not super grossed out and gagging.

Just to remind you...this has been our past 4 years.
And Monday night, he overcame his fear, or whatever it was, and pulled those guts out, no problemo. It is weird that it made me kinda sad it didn't bother him anymore?
Addie enjoyed it. She knew exactly what she wanted--a pumpkin with glasses and funny teeth.
Lyla had a good time too. At first she looked a little weirded out, but by the end she was grabbing handfuls and getting it everywhere.
How is it possible that he is almost 8?!
The finished pumpkins.

Stuff

A summary of the past couple weeks.

Lyla went to her first birthday party. It was for Irelynd, a girl in our ward, and her party was amazing. It was at a little farm right in the middle of the city. They had a petting zoo and pony rides. All the kids got cowboy hats and bandanas and as they left they got to fill up their baggies with candy. Lyla loved it. Not the best pictures, but here are a few from the party.
It was so cute, I took the girls that next Tuesday for the petting zoo and pony rides.

A few weekends ago, we attended our community Harvest Festival. We go every year...they had free pumpkins, cotton candy, funnel cakes, games and a few blow up toys/rides. This year they had a zip line and Devin really wanted to go. That kid has no fear. He waited in line over an hour to do it...there were a lot of kids that chickened out (and a few adults), but he was fine. I took some pictures with my point and shoot and they all were deleted accidently. I've not had much luck this month with cameras and pictures!

Speaking of cameras, still no word on my camera. I decided to just go ahead and buy a new one. There were too many things coming up that I could not miss. This new camera is pretty awesome. It is so fast. I'm just getting used to the slight differences.

The kids had no school last Thursday and Friday. I took them to the Clark County Heritage Museum on Thursday.
A couple of Friday's ago we had playgroup at our house. I didn't have my camera, but we did a lot of the same things I have done in the past. A few pictures of what we ate. We also made slime and played Halloween Bingo.
Friday Addie went to dance. It was a Halloween theme.
That night was our ward trunk-or-treat. It was Harry Potter theme (the 2nd counselor is a huge Harry Potter fan--He is the one dressed as Hagrid). It was so cool. I loved all the details.
A few pictures of the kids before we left.
And the rest from the Trunk or Treat

Our Family

Another picture from Adalynn.
And that is a tail on Jared! At least that is what she told me when I asked her.

Adalynn loves writing and art and almost every day gives me a little note or card. I thought this one was especially cute, so I scanned it. (She told me it was Lyla, Addie and myself)

Rio

I pulled out my old point and shoot--it takes terrible pictures and makes screeching noises when you turn it on and off. But at least it is something. (I have to laugh too--this camera is 8 years old, has been thrown and dropped many times and it still works. My super expensive camera is dropped once and calls it quits).

Anyways, this week at dance the story was Rio. Cute!

My Camera

Oh man. My camera was dropped last weekend and at first I thought it was okay. Nope. Started acting weird Monday. I cried a lot. Seems silly, I know.
I took it in today and they can't repair it here in town so they are sending it to Nikon to be fixed. I am crossing my fingers that is something small and not too expensive to fix.
It will probably take three weeks. I am sad that there are so many things happening this month that I know I am not going to get pictures of. But as long as I have it before the real important things coming up (Thanksgiving, Devin's Baptism, Christmas) I will be happy.

Our weekend

We had a few fun things go on this weekend. Saturday morning Devin had his first baseball game. He is on a new team, the Dodgers, and it is a bit more competitive. He did pretty well.
After his baseball game, we went to Mt Charleston for a picnic. It was fun seeing the changing leaves (doesn't even compare to Provo Canyon, but we will take what we can get). Unfortunately, a lot of the hikes, including the one we wanted to go on, were closed. We found a meadow and let the kids play around in that.
This was on the drive home. They held hands like this for a while.

Later that night we took the training wheels off Addie's bike. I thought we were going to have to really work with her, like we did with Devin. I also thought there was going to be a lot of crashes and scrapped limbs. Nope. She took off like a pro. It was pretty cool. Later that night, Devin, Ian, Adalynn and I went on a three mile bike ride and she did awesome. It was fun.

Sunday we watched conference and I made caramel apples.
That night we went on another bike ride to the park and the kids played. I love this time of year!  The evenings are perfect!

2026

Sam bought these cute shirts for Parker, Lexi and Adalynn. We are going to take a picture of them every year at the start of the year--by the time they are seniors they should fit. To think that Adalynn will graduate in 2026 seems so weird to me! It seems so far away.
