I wonder how many hours I have spent this year driving the kids to and from school and other activities and waiting in the car?? I'm really looking forward to the summer...I think I want a break from school more than the kids do.
Devin had baseball pictures last week. I never buy sports photos anymore. I will sometimes buy a small team photo, but the individual photos are way too much money and never great photos. I brought my camera and took a few of him after the official photo. He was being goofy.
Every month Adalynn's preschool class goes on a field trip and the families are invited. This month we went to the new children's museum. We brought Courtney with us.
Even though I knew the museum had been redone and in a new location, I assumed it would be all the same stuff. There were a lot of new features and exhibits and I was impressed with all the changes. We were there three hours and could have stayed a few more. The first thing we checked out was the water room...probably Lyla's favorite part.
In one room they had a pirate ship and a castle the kids could run around and play in. They also had dress up clothes and a stage. I didn't take a lot of pictures because I was chasing after Lyla the whole time, but here are the girls by the pirate ship.
Upstairs they had a little town, where they had the Smiths grocery store, the auto body shop, a jamba juice, a construction zone, and (the favorite of the day) a pet hospital. That pet hospital, with all the stuffed animals and the lab coats and clipboards were freaking adorable. Oh and the x-rays. Cute, cute, cute.
They also had a jungle gym type area where you could run around and go down slides and they had various science exhibits throughout. The girls loves these tubes--you put the fabric in and the wind sucked them through the tube and shot them out above.
Most of the good pictures I got were of Courtney.
They had an entire art room, where the kids could paint, color, make crafts and draw on the huge glowing white board.
Here you could pull on the rope to lift a car. And not related but I had to point out Adalynn's Cinderella shoes. When she saw these at Target she was beside herself. She put them on and kept saying, "Oh these are sooo cute. I love them." I am a softy and bought them for her.
We left and grabbed lunch at McDonalds--so not my favorite place, but it was what the girls wanted.
I would love to go back with all the kids. Maybe this summer!
Devin's new baseball season started a few weeks ago. I took these pictures at his first game. He has really improved from last season, which is exciting. He does well hitting. We need to work on fielding, but I'm glad he has found a sport he enjoys and is doing well.
Easter this year was great. A little busy, but a very nice weekend.
First a little craft we did...These are two pieces of contact paper with tissue paper squares in between--so easy and looked so cute in our back door. Even Lyla could do this one.
Jared's dad and Kristi came to visit Friday. The kids were beyond excited! That night we hung out, ate dinner, and went on a walk to a little ice cream place by our home...We have been going on so many walks lately--the weather is perfect!
These were Saturday morning, dying Easter eggs.
After dying eggs, Kristi and I went SHOPPING! If I haven't mentioned this before, my mother-in-law has some awesome decorating skills. I have been wanting to do our front room for a while. She helped me pick out some things and get paint. It was so much fun (when it is all done, I will show you!)
When we got home, Josh (Jared's brother) was here and we all went to a buffet for lunch. After lunch the boys went mini golfing and Kristi and I started painting.
Later Garth and I took the kids on a walk to get a tall cool one.
That night, the kids were worn out.
The next morning was Easter. And we really slacked this year. Most years we do Easter baskets on Saturday, but we were just not ready. So we did it Sunday.
Mouth full of candy...nice
We had breakfast... I made resurrection rolls like last year.
A quick Easter egg hunt
Lyla started acting weird right after her bath. Turns out she was sick. I stayed at home with her while the rest of the family went to church.
Josh showing her a dog video...trying to make her happy for a picture.
I was cleaning out her car seat (she threw up on our way to church) and I looked over and found her like this. Poor little lady.
After church we hung out and made our Easter Sunday dinner. That night we went on another walk.
Monday Josh, Garth and Kristi all left. It was a nice visit. I can't wait until the next one.
