Miss Lyla will be 10 months at the end of this month! Just a few things.
I call her Lyla-bug. She is eating pretty well now. She likes squash, carrots, sweet potatoes, oatmeal, grapes (peeled and cut up really small), any kind of cracker, puffs, and apples. She sleeps through the night She has 7 teeth and it looks like more are on the way.
The other day I picked up Devin's friend and this is the conversation I overheard on our drive to the house. I wish you could have heard how proud he was when he was telling his friend all about his little sister--it was really sweet.
Devin: This is MY baby. Her name is Lyla and she is a girl. She has 7 teeth. See? And she is nine months. Wait. Mom? Is Lyla nine months old now? Me: Yep. Devin: Yeah, she is nine months. She is a baby.
Thumbs up! Devin took this picture...I don't have many pictures of me and the kids so even though Lyla is kinda out of focus I love it.
I love Easter. In my opinion, our most meaningful holiday.
This year, for FHE, I did this activity with the kids. I'm sure all you mommas have seen it on the web--it is the one where you have 12 eggs and put various things in to teach your kids about Christ's death and resurrection (a sacrament cup, small rock, three dimes, etc). We hid the eggs first and let them find them then went though opening them and talking about Jesus. I think I will do this every year (I like the site I used because it makes it simple for children but also includes scriptures which we didn't read but when our kids are older we will).
Saturday morning I think the kids were a little confused that the Easter bunny came the day before Easter, but I really do love getting all of that out of the way so we can spend Sunday really focusing on the Savior. Plus we have 9 church and I don't think we could make it if we threw in Easter baskets or egg hunts.
This week is our Spring break. We thought we might get outta town and do something fun, but Jared has been super busy lately. I sorta feel like he is in law school again...he has been getting home later, going in on Saturday and Sundays and even when he is home he is working. Boo! Stay in Vegas it is.
And since we have just been hanging out at home, I've had a bit to time to go through pictures and blog. Lyla takes some marathon naps when we aren't having to wake her up to get Devin and Adalynn to and from school. Monday she took a 3 hour nap followed by a 2 hour nap. Nice!
Adalynn doing her homework.
Jared was feeding her jelly beans Obviously she liked them
Lyla is starting to learn how to maneuver around. She has started to pull herself up to stand...she cant stand all the way but she gets about halfways there. She also loves to stand and walk (with one of us holding her hands hunched over helping her. My back hurts just thinking about it). I think she is going to skip crawling and just start walking, but we will see.
Her favorite toy. She pushes the doors down by herself and every time turns to look at us like she is so proud. We of course are great for her self esteem because every time she does it we freak out and tell her how amazing she is.
Now that she is finally sitting pretty well we have been taking tons of pictures of her. I personally think this is the best age to photograph. They can't run away from you and they smile at just about everything. I love it!
Sorry if this video gives you motion sickness. She just loves this thing so much. Devin really wasn't a fan...and neither was Adalynn when they were babies. I have almost gotten rid of it many times but kept telling myself, maybe the next kid will love it. She does, so I'm glad I kept it.
