Steph, Snow and Bass Pro

So I really lucked out this week when my sister decided to fly into Vegas instead of Phoenix (she lives in Hawaii and it was cheaper to fly here then Phoenix instead of a direct flight to Phoenix). The kids love her so much and were so excited. She was so great helping me with shopping, their homework, and playing barbies. We ditched the kids and saw a movie one night and the other night the whole family headed to Town Square for snow in the square and the Bass Pro shop.
Town Square

At the Bass Pro Shop. This Santa held on tight to Lyla...no jumping off his lap!

We had so much fun. It was really nice being able to spend some one on one time with her. We stayed up late all three nights just chatting...and looking at all her amazing photos from her adventures in Hawaii. I wish so much I could live close to my sisters!

Santa (Again)

Pictures of Santa from our church Christmas party. Lyla wants nothing to do with him, but instead of crying or looking freaked out, she just jumps right off his lap.

Adalynn also had a school cookie decorating party that we went to Friday. I got a chance to chat with her new teacher. She is doing amazing in this new classroom and I couldn't be happier with her teacher

Venetian and Bellagio

Last week we took the kids to the Venetian and Bellagio to see their Christmas decorations. We started at the the Venetian, which we had never done at Christmas. They had a really large Christmas tree, (made of metal and tons of round clear balls) an ice skating rink and a few Snow Queen people walking around. It was okay.

Then it was on to the Bellagio.

Lastly, we stopped at an A & W/Long John Silvers for some root beer floats.

Live Nativity

LDS Nativity Trailer 2012 from Karen Thomas on Vimeo.

One of the stakes here in Vegas puts on a live nativity...it is so well done and one of my favorite Christmas activities. Above is a clip of the production.

Getting ready to head out the door.

They have goats, donkeys, horses and sheep the kids can feed and pet. Both girls loved this. Also afterwards you can go up and see the baby Jesus--they have a real baby and the kids loved seeing him.

I loved watching the kids faces during the presentation. They were just in awe and had so many questions about the birth of our Savior. There were a few times my eyes welled up with tears--I think we all get caught with the holidays and tonight was a wonderful reminder of why we celebrate Christmas.
At the end with the wise men.

Boulder City Parade and Ethel M

Last Saturday, we went with four other families from our ward to the Boulder City Christmas Parade. It was this cute, small town parade, with lots of floats, dance teams, marching bands, and motorcycles all decked out for Christmas.
(Adalynn, Brennon, Courtney)
After eating dinner at a small cafe, we walked down the street to visist a house with lots of lights. Here is a picture of all the kids.

Adalynn and Courtney like to fight over the same toys...and now the same boy! Last week when Courtney was over I heard them fighting in the backyard about who gets to marry Brennon. It was pretty funny.
Our family at Ethel M...we've gone here every year since we moved here.
(Don't you love how Jared is grabbing Devin's neck to keep him from running away?)
It was a fun night with some of our favorite people. The best thing about living in Las Vegas, for me, is the friendships we've made. It makes me so happy that we have a little "family" here and my kids have some really awesome kids they get to hang out with all the time.
