My Summer Bucket List

It is Friday night and I am at home, just the kids and I. And I have been thinking that instead of moaning and groaning about having Jared gone the whole summer, I should make a list of everything I want to do this summer. Because, if you didn't already know, I am big on making lists and getting stuff done. So, without further ado, here is my summer bucket list...
  • Visit family and friends in Utah
  • Get kids pictures taken
  • Visit Sean, Sam Lexi, and Andrea in Rexburg. So excited to see how much it has changed since 2001!
  • Get into the habit of reading my scriptures every day!
  • Go to the temple at least once this summer.
  • Do a lot of Spring/Summer cleaning. Have you ever seen this blog? I think I might try the spring cleaning challenge. It is a little intense, but I love a clean house.
  • Clean carpets and couches.
  • Plan and go to my high school reunion.
  • Work out at least twice a week
  • Loose 10 pounds (because, come on, the baby weight has overstayed it's welcome)
  • Organize all my photos
  • Backup all my photos. I have already done this, but my photography teacher told me you shouldn't write on your cds/dvds with a sharpie. Over time the acid from the marker can damage your images. Since I have written on them, I need to re do it
  • Finish my photoshop tutorials
  • Watch So You Think You Can Dance. I have never watched it before. I don't watch very much tv in the summer. But I have heard too many good things to pass it up.
  • Plan and have a smashing first birthday party for Miss Adalynn (oh man, I almost started crying when I typed that. She can't almost be a year old???)
  • Lots and lots of swimming. And going to the park.
  • Spend a few weeks in AZ
  • Take lots of pictures (of course)
That should keep my busy for the next few months. :)

Flashback Friday

Just a few so Jared doesn't feel left out of Flashback Friday.

Jared and his dad 1977ish
I have always loved this picture of Jared and his parents
Jared back when he had 4 arms. haha.
And these two trouble makers are Jared's brothers Sean and Aaron. Both had birthdays this month. Happy Birthday Boys!!

Just to answer a few questions...
Yes, I used photoshop to make our header. It isn't hard, but there are a lot of steps. I could do a post about how exactly I did ours if anyone is just dying to know. OR, you can e-mail me and I will make one for you!! Because, as you all know, I am quite single these days and just itching for things to keep me busy. Seriously, I will do it!

And for my large pictures. Again, it isn't hard, but I had to really mess around to get it the way I wanted it. I'm going to tell you how I did it, but I am not the best at explaining things, so if you have a question, let me know.

Alright! First, just to practice I set up a "private" blog to mess around. Hehe. No one knows about this blog, but anytime I want to try something I try it out first on that blog to make sure it doesn't screw everything up.

Alright, then you need to go to Layout and choose new template. Choose minima (probably most people have this template anyways).

Now you have to mess around with the HTML. Sounds scary, but it isn't really. Again, go to Layout and click Edit HTML. Scroll down until you see #header wrapper and change the number from 660 to 1000. Then change the outer wrapper and change that number to 1000. Scroll down to main wrapper and change that number to 810. And the last you are going to change is the sidebar wrapper to 160. You are basically moving the columns around so your picture will fit and not get cut off. Don't add any spaces or anything extra. Just replace the old number with the new. HTML codes are like a hormonal women and just the smallest thing will screw everything up (You know its true, alright)

One more thing. We all use the shabby blog, cutest blog on the block layouts, etc. right? Because they are just too cute. Well, since you are making everything larger you are going to have to choose a 3 column layout. The choices are limited, but they are starting to make more, so that is nice.

Okay. Now to the large pictures. Believe it or not that was all about getting your bloggy blog ready for a large picture. I upload my photos to photobucket. Just set up a free account. Before you choose your files, make sure the reduce to: box says 640 x 480 (large). After your photo has uploaded, copy the direct link (it will be under your photo).

Once you are ready to blog, click on add image. Paste the URL into the box that says URL. I also center the photo and have the large image size on.

And that is it. I'm sure some of you are sorry you asked. Let me know if you have any questions.

New Header

I finally figured out how to make a custom header. Some blogs have the cutest headers and I was getting tired of my lame-o "Christensen Fam" header. These pictures are old--I am planning on replacing them when we get family pictures taken. I have a friend from my photography class that is going to take them as soon as Jared has a free night (So maybe not until August!)

Memorial Day

Happy Memorial Day!
We went out to breakfast.
Jared studied.
I took the kids to the outlet mall.
We threw water balloons at our house after dinner.

Starting today, Jared will stay at school every night until midnight. He is working during the day. Then his bar prep class goes until 9:00 and he will stay after that to read/finish assignments/etc. I'm dreading the next month.

Anyways, last Friday Devin, Addie and I flew to AZ for a few days. My sister-in-law Josy graduated Friday from college. So glad we were able to spend some time with them. And Saturday my sister Jen went through the temple. It was fabulous being able to do that with her.
I absolutely love going home and the kids have so much fun!!
The Mesa Temple
My favorite

I love that on the grounds there are palm trees, orange trees, and cactus. Quite the variety.

 Swimming at my aunt's pool

At my house in Payson. It was a fun place to grow up--and my kids eat it up. They love all the animals, the 4 wheelers, the yard, basically everything. Can't wait until we go back in July.

Yes, you read that right. Jared graduated last Friday!!!! He is done with school FOREVER! I know some of you wondered if he would ever be done with school (me included), but he really is done. I am so proud of him and all of his hard work. We have had some ups and dows these past three years, and I am definitely ready to move onto the next stage of our life (you know--the one where we stop renting and start receiving a real paycheck). So many good things have happened, I can't complain too much. Still, law school is not for wimps!

I can't get too excited because Monday he started studying for the bar. It is going to be like a verrrry long finals week (almost 3 months actually). I have many activities and trips planned to get through it. I'm still pretty sure there will be bad days ahead, but you get through them right? RIGHT?

After lunch, Jared's friend Matt (who also graduated) rented out and invited us to Jump it Up--a huge room full of the blow up bounce houses (and slides, mazes, etc.etc.) We all went (minus Garth and Kristi) and had so much fun. Thanks Matt!
And we also went swimming a few times

It was a great weekend!!!
