Flashback Friday

I saw this idea on a blog I visit and I am going to copy. Every Friday you post a picture from the past. I have been wanting to scan old photos anyways, so this will fun posting some for everyone to see. I was a pretty big dork growing up, as was Jared, so this could be very entertaining.
Jared--1977? Maybe 1978

Her Room

I just moved everything around in Adalynn's room and took the glider downstairs and I really like how much bigger her room feels. And I finished about 10 things I was working on so the walls aren't quite as bare. I still have a few things on my to do list, but I like how it looks so far. (And thank you to the people who lived here before us because I just love the wall color).
Can you believe she is pulling herself up to stand? I hate putting her down for naps/night because she just stands and cries. So I go in and lay her down. But she pops right back up. And we do that little dance until she gets too tired to stand up. P.S. Addie=Not a fan of naps
This wall needs something else, right? Under the right shelf. I have no idea what, but I will figure it out (any suggestions?)
Also, Jared told me our kids are going to be vain because they both have pictures of themselves in their room. Lets hope not--vain people are annoying.

Chuck E Cheese

Friday night we went to Chuck E Cheese. It is Devin's happy place. So, even though there are hoards of crazy kids, the pizza is mediocre and it usually smells like dirty feet, we take him. And it is also something I use the entire day to get Devin to do what I want. Seriously every sentence starts with"Devin, if you want to go to Chuck E Cheese, you better........"

HIp Hip Hooray

Devin is potty trained.

I am about the laziest person in the world, because I kept putting it off. I wanted to do it before I had Addie, but we were going on all sorts of trips and moving and everyone told me he would have issues when I had Adalynn, so I decided not to. Then Adalynn came and, well you know how it is nursing ALL the time and being tired. But he started preschool and they wanted him coming in a pull up. I think that along with seeing all his little friends going to the bathroom sparked something, because he seriously potty trained himself. I kid you not, he just decided to do it and he has done very well. I had this image of me cleaning up pee around the cloak and I was dreading that. I am happy to say, I have only had to do it a few times.

I'm sure you are all getting tired of looking at my messy house. And FYI--it is still so messy.

Last weekend we took a quick little trip up to Utah to visit family. What can I say? We had so much fun! We drove up Friday. The drive and the kids were perfect (we were almost killed by a ladder on the freeway, but Jared's mad driving skills saved us). We had a fab time with all of Jared's siblings (except Josh-- he was in LA). Devin loved being with all the extra people, especially his cousins, and I also had a great time seeing family, making bows, visiting Provo, and playing the wii for the first time (and in case you are curious, my wii person totally looked like a black woman--Michelle Obama if you will). It also snowed which was fun for us. And, yes, I only took pictures of Adalynn and Lexi (her cousin who is 2 weeks older) because they are just too cute. Here are a few (there are more on my Picasa Album if you care).

Cleaning your house while your kids are still growing up is like shoveling the walk before it stops snowing. ~Phyllis Diller

I stole this quote from Sam's blog (my sister in law). And boy is it the truth! I'm not even going to pretend that this was just a bad day. Because lately, my house looks like this all the time! And I clean. Really I do. I clean my butt off all day long. Even so it still looks like squatters are living here instead of my family and I.

A little Pre-Valentines Day Post

I totally stole this idea from a blog I visit--
They have these little mailboxes at Target (in the dollar section) so I bought a few and decorated them.. For the past week I have been leaving Devin little treats for when he gets home from school. Nothing big--but he sure gets excited. I think it will be a fun little tradition.
I was going to do this on Valentines day, but we will be in Utah this weekend, so I did it today. I first made heart pancakes for breakfast (sorry no picture). And here is lunch...
I thought it looked cuter with the skittles...Then since Wednesday is a looong day (Jared has his night class and I don't see him until about 10:00) we did sugar cookies. Again I saw this idea on a kids cooking blog and I thought it was too cute. Here are a few of our animals...

MOUSE--Made especially by Devin. Plus another cookie made by Devin.

Oh and since I have a cold, I can't taste a thing. Don't you hate that? I have eaten like 4 cookies, but I have no idea why because it's not like I can taste them. Bummer.

Pillowcase Dress

I have been in love with pillowcase dresses ever since I found out I was having a girl. I bought one online and it looked so easy to make, I decided to whip out the sewing machine and give it a try. Lets just say the seam ripper is my new best friend and I think I will let the professionals make my kids clothing from now on.
It was sure a fun thing to do when the kids were asleep and Jared was studying though. And even though they are too big now, they will fit her this summer.

Here is the one I bought...
(And as Jared would say, "Nice satellite dish on her head.")
(Looks cute with leggings, but how cute would it look over jeans? Or just by itself?)

My first attempt...
Dress #2

P.S. If any of you ever look on Etsy, you will see this material made into just about everything--nursing covers, diaper bags, curtains, dresses. How funny would that be if I took Adalynn to a friends house and she matched their curtains? lol I wouldn't care--I still like it.

One more...

We have a crawler

Little Miss Adalynn is officially crawling. As in, up on all fours, lifting her hands and knees type or crawling. Eek! I'm not sure how I am going to keep up with both of them!
On a bit of an unrelated note, after I had Adalynn's pictures taken, they had me sign a release (saying it would be alright if they used her picture in their store). I did, assuming they had everyone do that. Saturday I went to the mall to get a baby shower gift and I stopped by to look, and they had her cute little pictures up in a few places in their store! I took pictures with my camera phone, but have no idea how to post those or even put them on my computer.

Today it was warm enough to....

....Run through the sprinklers (in his pajamas mind you)...

...And wear short sleeves

I'm not bragging. I'm just saying it was a really perfect day (and week). Alright so maybe I am bragging a little!

The Picture People

My friend loves taking her daughter to the Picture People, and I had a great coupon, so I decided to try them out. I scanned these, so they look better in real life, but I wanted to post them (shhh---don't tell--I'm pretty sure you're not supposed to scan them). Oh and I love this outfit (if you couldn't tell).

I am taking the next photo class at the community college--just for fun. It is fun for me to learn new things and get a break from the kids. It is the intermediate class and it is supposed to be a lot about lighting--I think we are even going to do studio stuff. Anyways, my teacher only wants us shooting in raw?? And our assignments have have the raw files, tifs, and good 'ol jpegs. Changing to raw is easy enough to do, but I am trying to learn how to get them into the right format to post online. I think I have it figured out, but it is so time consuming, and I don't have a lot of that at the moment. It is a pain, I tell you.

And these pictures look alright in photoshop and look like crap here. Why??

(I know there are a couple photographers out there that look at my blog. Any advice would be fabulous!)
