I just had to post some pictures of Devin and Adalynn. He sure loves her--but he doesn't know the meaning of personal space. Let's just say I never leave her alone with him. He loves kissing her, but most of the time he head butts her in the process. He likes poking her (especially her eye), he tries to pick her up all the time. Sometimes if I won't let him hold her, he grabs her arm and just pulls her toward him. He pretty much torments her all day long--surprisingly he hasn't hit her or thrown anything at her. He did spit on her though--yes, he spit on her and wow was I mad about that. So when you see these pictures with Devin grinning and Adalynn screaming, now you know why.
(I'm also wondering where this cheesy grin came from?)
I guess I'll throw in some sweet pictures of the two of them. And here is one just for fun.
This past week we drove up to Utah to go to the MTC with my little brother. I missed going through the temple with him and his farewell, so I was excited I was able to do this. Plus this was a chance for him to meet Adalynn. We drove up Tuesday night and stayed with Jared's grandma. Then the next day, after lunch at Mimi's Cafe, we took him to the MTC. There were soooo many missionaries there--it was awesome seeing all those guys ready and excited to serve a mission. Jared and I took the kids--fully planning on having to leave during the program--but they were both pretty good so we got to stay through the talks and video. I thought I was going to be all emotional but I wasn't really (maybe a little bit during the video). My mom and dad on the other hand...crybabies (just a little joke mom and dad). So we said goodbye. I'm glad we went. And I am so proud and excited for my brother. I really think he will be a fantastic missionary. He has always been a great person and has worked hard in all he does. A mission will be no exception. We stayed in Utah the rest of the week. We figured since we drove all that way and Jared starts school Thursday, it would be a great opportunity to spend some time together before I become a single mom again. We had a lot of fun. Thursday we took Devin and Adalynn to the zoo. Michelle and Parker came along. Devin seemed to have a good time despite his facial expression in this picture. These are a little random but I thought they were cute. Saturday we went to the children's museum. Again, Devin really had a blast. We came home Sunday. It is already Thursday...Jared is at school until about 7:00--I am so glad this is his last year!
Adalynn's one month checkup was today. Let's just say she isn't going hungry--She is 10 pounds 6 ounces and 21.5 inches long. I am betting she could survive a good couple or weeks on her cheeks alone. Other than her baby acne and a goopy eye (yes she is very attractive right now) everything is great!
We have had a lot of family visiting to see us...errr...Adalynn. I'm thinking the best way to get people to visit us here in Vegas is to have a baby. It has been so nice having help with Devin and having people here to talk to during the day while Jared is at work.
I already mentioned Josh came. He had been planning on coming anyways, and it just so happened I had the baby early. So he was there while I was still in the hospital and he stayed a few days after that. Then my parents came. They drove up from Arizona. My dad left after a few days and my mom stayed a few extra days and flew home. I can't even tell you how helpful it was having my mom here. She gave Devin a lot of attention, taking him to the pool and other places. She went grocery shopping, cooked, and did about 50 loads of laundry. She kept our house so clean. Yes, she was basically our slave for the week. Thank you so much Mom!
Then my awesome sister Jen, my brother Johnny and his wife Josy drove up from Mesa/Tempe. Which was so great! This was one of the first times I had a chance to really hang out with Johnny and Josy since they were married and I loved it! Jared took them down to the strip a few times and he had a blast. Devin also loved having them here...I think he has a little crush on Josy.
Yesterday was Adalynn's 2 week checkup...and my first outing with both kids...Yikes! I have been so nervous to take them both out by myself, mainly because most of the time I have a hard time with just Devin. I can't tell you how many times he has just taken off...and he is so fast. And he doesn't listen. So yelling "NO" at the top of my lungs doesn't stop him. So I can just picture me holding Adalynn in her car seat and Devin taking off. Do I put her down and run after him? Or do I sprint after Devin while I am holding her? Well, anyways, we all did fine at the doctors. I gave Devin about 4 suckers to keep him happy at the office and we all survived. Pheww!
Adalynn is doing great! She now weighs 7 pounds 14 ounces and is 20.5 inches long. I wish they wouldn't grow so fast...it made both Jared and I a little sad that she is already 2 weeks old and almost a pound bigger. She is such a sweet little thing! I have been so happy and feel grateful for both of my kiddos.
